“Surely I come quickly.” (Rev. 22:20)
As we approach the end of the age, it is predictable that many will abandon the hope of Christ’s any-moment return. But the truth is still there whether men hold it or not.
The fact is that the Lord Jesus may come at any time. We do not know the day or hour of the Bridegroom’s return for His bride; this means that He could come today. There is no prophecy that needs to be fulfilled before we hear His shout, the voice of the archangel and the trump of God. True, the church expects to experience tribulation throughout its time on earth, but the horrors of the Tribulation period are not part of its destiny. If the church has to go through, the Tribulation, that would mean that the Lord couldn’t come for at least seven years, because we certainly are not in the Tribulation now, and when it does come, it will last for seven years.
There is a large body of Scripture texts that teach us to be ready at all times for the Savior to appear. Notice the following: “…nearer than when we believed” (Rom. 13:11).
“The night is far spent, the day is at hand” (Rom. 13:12).
“The Lord is at hand” (Phil. 4:5).
“For yet a little while, and He that shall come will come, and will not tarry” (Heb. 10:37).
“…the coming of the Lord draweth nigh” (James 5:8).
“…the judge standeth before the door” (James 5:9).
“But the end of all things is at hand’”(1 Pet. 4:7). These verses seem designed to create the impression on the mind that the Lord’s coming is imminent. It is an event for which we should be watching and waiting. We should be busy in His service, faithfully carrying out our stewardship.
R. A. Torrey once said, “The imminent return of our Lord is the great Bible argument for a pure, unselfish, devoted, unworldly, active life of service. In much of our preaching we urge people to live holy and work diligently because death is swiftly coming, but this is never the Bible argument. The Bible argument always is, Christ is coming; be ready when He comes.”
Our responsibility is clear. Our loins should be girded, our lights should be burning, and we should be like those who wait for their Lord (see Luke 12: 35, 36). Let us not succumb to those who teach that we have no right to expect Him at any moment. Rather let us believe in His imminent return, teach it enthusiastically, and let the truth shine out in our lives.

உலகத்தின் முடிவை நெருங்கிக் கொண்டிருக்கிற இக்காலகட்டத்தில், எச்ணத்திலும் கிறிஸ்துவின் வருகை நிகழும் என்னும் நம்பிக்கையைப் பலர் இழந்து போவார்கள் என்பது காணக்கூடியதாக இருக்கிறது. ஆனால், மனிதன் அதை நம்புகிறானோ இல்லையோ, அந்த உண்மை நிச்சயமாக நிறைவேறும்.
இயேசு கிறிஸ்துவின் வருகை எந்நேரத்திலும் நிகழலாம் என்பதே உண்மை. மணவாளன் தமது மணவாட்டிக்காகத் திரும்பி வரப்போகிற நாளும் நாழிகையும் நமக்குத் தெரியாது. இன்றைக்கு அவர் வரக்கூடும் என்பது இதன் பொருளாயிருக்கிறது. கர்த்தருடைய ஆரவாரத்தையும், பிரதான தூதனுடைய சத்தத்தையும், தேவ எக்காளம் தொனிக்கிறதையும், நாம் கேட்கும் முன்னர் நடந்து முடிவுபெற வேண்டிய எந்தத் தீர்க்கதரிசனமும் இல்லை. சபையானது இவ்வுலகில் இருக்கும் காலமெல்லாம் உபத்திரவத்தை அனுபவிப்பதை எதிர்பார்த்துக் கொண்டிருப்பது உண்மையே. ஆனால் உபத்திரவகாலப் பயங்கரக் கொடுமைகளுக்குள்ளாக அது உட்புகாது. உபத்திரவத்திற்குள் சபை பிரவேசிக்கும் என்பது உண்மையானால் இன்னும் எழு ஆண்டுகளுக்கு, கர்த்தருடைய வருகை நடைபெறாது. ஏனெனில், இப்பொழுது நிச்சயமாக நாம் உபத்திரவத்தின் ஊடாகக் கடந்து செல்லவில்லை. அது வரும்போது, ஏழு ஆண்டுகள் நிலைத்திருக்கும்.
இரட்சகரின் பிரசன்னத்தை எதிர்கொள்ள நாம் ஆயத்தப்பட்டவர்களாக இருக்க வேண்டுமென்று பற்பல வேத வசனங்கள் நமக்குக் கற்பிக்கின்றன. கீழ்க் காண்பனவற்றைக் கவனிப்பீர்களாக.
“நாம் விசுவாசியானபோது இரட்சிப்பு சமீபமாயிருந்ததைப் பார்க்கிலும் இப்பொழுது அது நமக்கு அதிக சமீபமாயிருக்கிறது” (ரோமர் 13:11).
“இரவு சென்று போயிற்று, பகல் சமீபமாயிற்று” (ரோ.13:12).
“கர்த்தர் சமீபமாயிருக்கிறார்.”(பிலி.4:5).
“வருகிறவர் இன்னும் கொஞ்சக் காலத்தில் வருவார், தாமதம் பண்ணார்” (எபி.10:37).
“கர்த்தரின் வருகை சமீபமாயிருக்கிறதே” (யாக்.5:8).
“இதோ, நியாயாதிபதி வசல்படியில் நிற்க்கிறார்” (யாக்.5:9).
“எல்லாவற்றுக்கும் முடிவு சமீபமாயிற்று” (1பேது.:4:7).
கர்த்தருடைய வருகை எச்சமயத்திலும் நிகழலாம் என்னும் எண்ணத்தை நம்முடைய உள்ளத்தில் உண்டாக்கத்தக்கதாக இவ்வசனங்கள வடிவமைக்கப்பட்டு இருக்கின்றன என்றே தோன்றுகிறது. அந்த நிகழச்சியை எண்ணி, நாம் கவனமுள்ளவர்களாகவும், காத்திருப்பவர்களாகவும் காணப்பட வேண்டும். அவருடைய ஊழியத்தில் சுறுசுறுப்பாயிருந்து, நமது உக்கிராண ஊழியத்தை உத்தமத்தோடு நிறைவேற்றவேண்டும்.

A. டோரி என்பார், ‘கர்த்தருடைய வருகை எச்சமயத்திலும் நிகழலாம் என்னும் வேத போதனை, தூய்மையானதும், தன்னலமற்றதும், ஒப்புவிக்கப்பட்டதும், உலகசார்பற்றதும், சுறுசுறுப்பானதுமான ஊழியத்தை நிறைவேற்றுவதற்கு ஊக்கமளிக்கும் ஒன்றாகும். மரணம் சடுதியில் உண்டாகும் என்று கூறி, அதன் காரணமாய் நாம் பரிசுத்தமாய் வாழ வேண்டும். கவனத்தோடு ஊழியம் செய்யவேண்டும் என்று கூறுகிறோம். ஆனால் இது வேதத்தின் அடிப்படையில் எழுந்த வாதமன்று. வேதத்தின் அடிப்படையிலான வாதம் யாதெனில், கிறிஸ்து வருகிறார் அவருடைய வருகைக்கு ஆயத்தமாயிருங்கள் என்பதே” என்று கூறியுள்ளார்.
நமது பொறுப்பு மிகத் தொளிவாக விளங்குகிறது. அரைகள் கட்டப்பட்ட வண்ணமும், எரிந்த விளக்கோடும், தங்களுடைய எஜமான் எப்பொழுது வருவார் என்று ஆயத்தமாகக் காத்திருக்கிறவர்களுக்கு ஒப்பாக நாம் காணப்பட வேண்டும் (லூக்.12:35-36). எச்சணத்திலும் கர்த்தருடைய வருகை நிகழலாம் என்று நாம் எதிர்பார்க்கிறதற்கு நமக்கு உரிமையில்லை என்று கற்பிக்கிறவர்களுக்கு நாம் அடிபணிந்துபோகக்கூடாது. மாறாக சடுதியில் நிகழும் அவருடைய வருகையை விசுவாசிப்போம், உற்சாகத்தோடு அதைப் பறை சாற்றுவோம், அந்த உண்மை நமது வாழ்க்கையை மிளிரச் செய்யட்டும்.

»Ja, ich komme bald.« Offenbarung 22,20
Es ist prophezeit, dass, je näher wir dem Ende dieser Zeit entgegengehen, viele Menschen die Hoffnung darauf, dass die Wiederkehr Jesu Christi jeden Moment geschehen kann, aufgeben. Aber die Wahrheit bleibt bestehen, ob die Menschen sie nun vertreten oder nicht.
Die Tatsache bleibt bestehen, dass der Herr Jesus jederzeit wiederkommen kann. Wir wissen weder Tag noch Stunde, wann der Bräutigam kommt, um Seine Braut zu holen; das bedeutet auch, dass Er heute schon kommen könnte. Es gibt keine Prophezeiung mehr, die noch erfüllt werden müsste, bevor wir Seinen Ruf, die Stimme des Erzengels und die Posaune Gottes hören werden. Es stimmt schon, auf die Gemeinde Gottes wartet noch eine schwere Zeit, während sie noch auf Erden lebt, aber die Schrecken der Zeit der großen Trübsal sind nicht Teil ihrer Bestimmung.
Wenn die Gemeinde durch diese Trübsal hindurchmuss, dann würde das gleichzeitig bedeuten, dass der Herr nicht vor Ablauf von mindestens sieben Jahren kommen könnte, weil wir jetzt natürlich noch nicht in dieser Drangsal stehen; und wenn sie kommt, dann wird sie ja sieben Jahre dauern.
Es gibt reichlich Bibelstellen, die uns lehren, dass wir immer bereit sein sollen für die Wiederkunft des Herrn. Lesen wir nur einmal die folgenden Verse: »… denn jetzt ist unsere Errettung näher, als da wir zum Glauben kamen « (Römer 13,11).
»Die Nacht ist weit vorgerückt, und der Tag ist nahe« (Römer 13,12).
»Der Herr ist nahe« (Philipper 4,5).
»Denn noch eine ganz kleine Weile, und der Kommende wird kommen und nicht säumen« (Hebräer 10,37).
»… denn die Ankunft des Herrn ist nahe gekommen« (Jakobus 5,8).
»Siehe, der Richter steht vor der Tür« (Jakobus 5,9).
»Es ist aber nahe gekommen das Ende aller Dinge« (1. Petrus 4,7).
Diese Verse scheinen alle geschrieben worden zu sein, um bei uns den Eindruck zu erwecken, dass das Kommen des Herrn unmittelbar bevorsteht. Es ist ein Ereignis, nach dem wir Ausschau halten und auf das wir warten sollen. Wir sollen dabei eifrig sein im Dienst Gottes und treu unsere Arbeit als Seine Haushalter tun.
R.A. Torrey hat einmal gesagt: »Die unmittelbar bevorstehende Wiederkunft unseres Herrn ist das große Argument der Bibel für ein reines, selbstloses, hingebungsvolles, weltabgewandtes und aktives Leben im Dienst für Ihn. In vielen von unseren Predigten drängen wir die Menschen, ein heiliges Leben zu führen und fleißig zu arbeiten, weil der Tod uns so schnell überrascht; aber so argumentiert die Bibel nie. Sie sagt immer nur: Christus kommt wieder; seid bereit, wenn Er kommt.«
Unsere Verantwortung ist ganz klar. Unsere Lenden sollen gegürtet sein, und unser Licht soll brennen, wir sollen so sein wie die Knechte, die auf ihren Herrn warten (siehe dazu Lukas 12,35.36). Wir wollen nicht auf diejenigen hereinfallen, die lehren, dass wir gar kein Recht haben, Jesus Christus jeden Augenblick zu erwarten. Lasst uns lieber an seine bevorstehende Wiederkunft glauben, mit großer Freude davon reden und diese Wahrheit in unserem Leben aufleuchten lassen.
