“Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.” (1 John 2:15)
The world is presented in the New Testament as a kingdom that is opposed to God. Satan is its ruler, and all nonbelievers are subjects. This kingdom makes its appeal to man through the lust of the eyes, the lust of the flesh and the pride of life. It is a society in which man tries to make himself happy without God, and in which the name of Christ is unwelcome. Dr. Gleason L. Archer Jr. says that the world is “the organized system of rebellion, self-seeking and enmity toward God which characterizes the human race in opposition to God.”
The world has its own amusements, politics, art, music, religion, thought-patterns and life-style. It seeks to force everyone to conform and hates those who refuse. This explains its hatred of the Lord Jesus.
Christ died to deliver us from the world. Now the world is crucified to us and we to it. It is positive treason for believers to love the world in any of its forms. In fact, the Apostle John says that those who love the world are the enemies of God.
Believers are not of the world, but they are sent into it to testify against it, to denounce its works as evil, and to preach salvation from it through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.
Christians are called to walk in separation from the world. In the past, this may have been too narrowly limited to dancing, theaters, smoking, drinking, card playing and gambling. But it includes much more. Much of what comes over the TV is worldly, appealing to the lust of the eyes and the lust of the flesh. Pride is worldly, whether it be pride of titles, degrees, salary, heritage or a big name. Luxurious living is worldly, whether palatial homes, gourmet foods, attention-getting clothing and jewelry or prestige cars. So is a life of ease and pleasure, spent largely on travel cruises, shopping sprees, sports and recreation. Our ambitions for ourselves and for our children may be worldly, even while we appear to be spiritual and pious. Finally, sex outside of marriage is a form of worldliness.
The more devoted we are to the Savior and the more sold-out we are to Him, the less time we will have for worldly pleasures and amusements. C. Stacey Woods said, “The measure of our devotion to Christ is the measure of our separation from the world.”
We are but strangers here, we do not crave
A home on earth, which gave Thee but a grave;
Thy cross has severed ties which bound us here,
Thyself our treasure in a brighter sphere.

உலகத்திலும் உலகத்திலுள்ளவைகளிலும் அன்புகூராதிருங்கள். ஒருவன் உலகத்தில் அன்புகூர்ந்தால், அவனிடத்தில் பிதாவின் அன்பில்லை. 1.யோவான் 2:15.
உலக சிநேகிதம்
தேவனுக்கு எதிரான அரசாக இவ்வுலகத்தைப் புதிய ஏற்பாடு அறிமுகப்படுத்தியுள்ளது. சாத்தான் அதனுடைய அரசனாக இருக்கிறான். அவிவாசிகள் அனைவரும் அவ்வரசின் குடிமக்களாக இருக்கின்றனர். மாமிசத்தின் இச்சை, கண்களின் இச்சை, ஜீவனத்தின் பெருமை, ஆகியவற்றின் மூலமாக மனிதர்களை அவ்வரசு கவர்ந்திழுக்கிறது. இறைவனின்றி களிகூர மனிதன் முயற்சிசெய்கிற சமுதாயமாக அது இருக்கிறது. கிறிஸ்துவின் திருப்பெயர் அங்கு வரவேற்கப்படுவதில்லை. ‘கலகக்காரர், தற்புகழ் நாடுவோர், இறைவனுக்கு எதிரிகள், ஆகியோரின் கூட்டமைப்பே இவ்வுலகம். மனுக்குலத்தின் குணங்களாக இத்தீய பண்புகள் காணப்படுகின்றன.” என முனைவர் கிளீசன் ட. ஆர்ச்சர் ஜீனியர் கூறியுள்ளார்.
இவ்வுலகத்திறுகுச் சொந்தமாகக் களியாட்டங்கள், அரசியல், கலை, இசை, சமயம், சிந்தனை முறைகள், வாழ்க்கை முறைகள், ஆகியவை விளங்குகின்றன. அனைவரும் அதற்கு உட்படவேண்டுமென்று அவுவலகம் வற்புறுத்துகிறது. உடன்பட மறுக்கிறவர்களை அது வெறுக்கிறது. கர்த்தராகிய இயேசு கிறிஸ்துவை இவ்வுலகம் வெறுக்கிறதின் காரணத்தை இதில் காண்கிறோம்.
இந்த உலகினின்று நம்மை மீட்கும் பொருட்டு கிறிஸ்து சாவை ஏற்றுக் கொண்டார். இப்பொழுது இவ்வுலகம் நமக்குச் சிலுவையில் அறையுண்டிருக்கிறது. நாம் அதற்குச் சிலுவையில் அறையுண்டிருக்கிறோம். இவ்வுலகை எவ்விதத்திலாவது நேசிப்போமாயின், கர்த்தருக்கு நாம் நம்பிக்கைத் துரோகம் இழப்பவர்களாயிருப்போம். உண்மையில், உலகில் அன்புகூருகிறவர்கள் தேவனுக்கு எதிரிகளாவர் என்றே அப்போஸ்தலன் யோவான் கூறியிருக்கிறார்.
விசுவாசிகள் இவ்வுலகிற்கு உரியவரல்லர். எனினும், அதற்கு எதிராகச் சான்று பகிரவும், அதனுடைய செயற்பாடுகள் தீயவை என்று கடிந்துரைக்கவும், கர்த்தராகிய இயேசு கிறிஸ்துவின் மூலமாக இரட்சிப்பு கிடைக்கப்பெறும் என்று பிரசங்கிக்கவும் விசுவாசிகளாகிய நாம் இவ்வுலகிற்கு அனுப்பப்பட்டிருக்கிறோம்.
இவ்வுலகினின்று பிரிந்து வாழ்ந்திடக் கிறிஸ்தவர்கள் அழைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளர். கடந்த நாட்களில் நடனமாடுதல், திரையரங்கிற்குச் செல்லுதல், புகைப் பிடித்தல், மது அருந்துதல், சீட்டு விளையாடுதல், சூதாடுதல், ஆகியவை மட்டுமே இவ்வுலகிற்கு உரியன என்று கருதப்பட்டன. ஆனால் உலகில் இத்தகைய செயல்பாடுகளில் இன்னும் பலசெயல்களைச் சேர்க்கலாம். கண்களுக்கும் மாமிசத்திற்கும் இச்சையைத் தூண்டிவிடுகிற நிகழ்சிகளைத் தொலைக்காட்சி தருகிறது. பெருமை இவ்வுலகிற்குரியது. விருதுக்கள், பட்டங்கள், ஊதியம், பாரம்பரியம், ஆகியவை பெருமைக்குரியன. செல்வச் செழிப்பில் வாழ்வதும் உலகிற்குரியதே. மாளிகை போன்ற வீடுகள், விருந்துக்கள், ஆடம்பர உடைகள், அணிகலங்கள், விலைஉயர்ந்த வாகனங்கள், யாவும் உலகத்திற்குரியன. இன்பங்களை அனுபவிப்பது, வீண்செலவுகள், தேவையற்ற பொருட்களை வாங்குவது, யாவும் உலகத்திற்குரியன. நாமும் நமது பிள்ளைகளும் ஆவிக்குரியவர்களாகவும், பயபக்தியுள்ளவர்களாகவும் காணப்பட்டாலும், நமது நோக்கங்கள் உலகத்திற்குரியவைகளாகவே உள்ளன. சிற்றின்ப சீர்கேடும் உலகத்திலிருந்து பிறந்ததே.
நமது இரட்சகர்பால் மிகுதியாகப் பற்றுடையோராய் நாம் இருப்போமானால், அவருக்காக நாம் முற்றிலும் நம்மை இழப்போம். உலக இன்பங்களை அனுபவிக்கக் காலத்தைச் செலவிடோம். ‘உலகின்று எவ்வளவாக நாம் பிரிந்து வாழ்கிறோமோ அதுவே நாம் கர்த்தரிடம் கொண்டிருக்கும் பக்தியின் அளவாகும்” என்று C.ஸ்டேசி வுட்ஸ் கூறியுள்ளார்.
இவ்வுலகம் கிறிஸ்துவைவிட்டு தூரமாகவிலகிச்சென்று,
அவருக்கு எதிராய் போர்செய்வதுமாயிருக்கிறது.

Die Welt stellt sich im Neuen Testament als das gottfeindliche Reich dar. Satan ist sein Herrscher, und alle Ungläubigen sind seine Untertanen. Dieses Reich übt seine Anziehungskraft auf die Menschen durch die Lust der Augen, die Lust des Fleisches und den Hochmut des Lebens aus. Es ist eine Gesellschaft, wo der Mensch ohne Gott glücklich zu werden versucht und wo der Name Christi nicht willkommen ist. Dr. Gleason L. Archer sagt, dass die Welt »das organisierte System von Rebellion, Selbstsucht und Feindschaft gegen Gott ist, welches das menschliche Geschlecht in seinem Widerstand gegen Gott kennzeichnet«.
Die Welt hat ihre eigenen Vergnügungen, ihre Politik, Kunst, Musik, Religion, ihre eigenen Denkmuster und ihren eigenen Lebensstil. Sie versucht, jeden zu vereinnahmen, und hasst die, welche sich weigern. Das erklärt ihren Hass gegen den Herrn Jesus.
Christus ist gestorben, um uns von der Welt zu befreien. Jetzt ist die Welt für uns gekreuzigt und wir für sie. Es ist Verrat, wenn Gläubige die Welt in einer ihrer Formen lieben. Ja, der Apostel Johannes sagt sogar, dass jeder, der die Welt liebt, ein Feind Gottes ist.
Die Gläubigen sind nicht von der Welt, aber sind in sie hineingesandt, um gegen sie zu zeugen, ihre Werke als böse anzuprangern und die Errettung aus ihr durch den Glauben an den Herrn Jesus Christus zu verkündigen.
Christen sind berufen, in Absonderung von der Welt zu wandeln. In der Vergangenheit wurde das vielleicht zu ausschließlich auf Tanz, Theaterbesuch, Rauchen, Trinken, Karten- und Glücksspiel beschränkt. Aber vieles, was im Fernsehen gezeigt wird, ist weltlich und spricht die Lust der Augen und die Lust des Fleisches an. Stolz ist weltlich, ob es nun Stolz auf Titel, akademische Grade, hohes Einkommen, berühmte Vorfahren oder einen bekannten Namen ist. Luxuriöses Leben ist weltlich, ob es sich nun um palastartige Häuser, teures Feinschmecker-Essen, auffallende
Kleidung und Schmuck oder Luxusautos handelt. Darunter fällt auch ein Leben in Vergnügungen und Bequemlichkeit, das sich hauptsächlich auf Kreuz- und Einkaufsfahrten, Sportveranstaltungen und Urlaubsreisen abspielt. Unsere Ambitionen für uns selbst und unsere Kinder können weltlich sein, sogar während wir selbst geistlich und gottesfürchtig scheinen. Schließlich ist natürlich auch sexuelle Aktivität außerhalb der Ehe eine Form von Weltlichkeit.
Je mehr wir dem Herrn hingegeben sind und uns ihm ausgeliefert haben, desto weniger Zeit haben wir für weltliche Vergnügungen und zweifelhaften Zeitvertreib. C. Stacey Woods sagte: »Das Maß unserer Hingabe an Christus ist das Maß unserer Absonderung von der Welt.«
Wir sind nur Fremde hier, wir ersehnen uns nicht
Ein Heim auf dieser Erde, die für Dich nur ein Grab hatte;
