“These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.” (1 John 5:13)
Some of us will be eternally thankful to God for this verse because it taught us that assurance of salvation comes first and foremost through the Word of God and not through feelings. The Bible was written, among other reasons, so that those who believe on the Name of the Son of God can know that they have eternal life.
We can be thankful that assurance does not come through feelings, because they fluctuate with every passing day. “God does not ask the soul to say, ‘Thank God I feel so good,’ but turns the eye another way, to Jesus and His Word.” When someone once asked Martin Luther, “Do you feel that your sins have been forgiven?” he replied, “No, but I’m as sure of it as that there’s a God in heaven. For feelings come and feelings go/ And feelings are deceiving/ My warrant is the Word of God/ Naught else is worth believing.” C. I. Scofield reminds us that “justification takes place in the mind of God and not in the nervous system of the believer.” H. A. Ironside used to say, “I don’t know I am saved because I feel happy, but I feel happy because I know I am saved.” And he knew he was saved by the written Word of God.
When we read that the Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are the sons of God (Rom. 8:16), we must remember that the Spirit witnesses to us primarily through the Scriptures. We read John 6:47, for instance, “He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.” We know that we have trusted in Christ for our eternal salvation; He is our only hope for heaven. The Spirit of God therefore witnesses to us through this verse that we are sons of God.
Of course, there are other means of assurance. We know we are saved because we love the brethren; because we hate sin and practice righteousness; because we love the Word of God; and because we have the instinct of prayer. But the first and fundamental means of assurance is the surest, most dependable thing in the universe, the Word of God. George Cutting said it well in his memorable tract Safety, Certainty and Enjoyment: “It’s the blood that makes us safe; it’s the Word that makes us sure.”

உங்களுக்கு நித்திய ஜீவன் உண்டென்று நீங்கள் அறியவும், தேவ குமாரனுடைய நாமத்தின்மேல் நீங்கள் விசுவாசமாயிருக்கவும், தேவனுடைய நாமத்தின்மேல் விசுவாசமாயிருக்கிற உங்களுக்கு இவைகளை எழுதியிருக்கிறேன். 1.யோவான் 5:13.
இரட்சிப்பின் உறுதி
உணர்வுகள் மூலமாக நமக்கு இரட்சிப்பின் உறுதி கிடைப்பதில்லை. முதலாவது, தேவனுடைய வார்த்தையின் மூலமாகவே அது கிடைக்கிறது என்பதை இவ்வசனம் கற்பிக்கிற காரணத்தினால், தேவனுக்கு என்றென்றைக்கும் நன்றியுடையவர்களாக இருப்போம். பல நோக்கங்களுக்காக வேதம் எழுதப்பட்டிருக்கிறது. இவற்றில் ஒன்று தேவகுமாரனுடைய நாமத்தின் மேல் விசுவாசமாயிருக்கிறவர்களுக்கு நித்திய வாழ்வு உண்டென்பதாகும்.
ஒவ்வொரு நாளிலும் உணர்வுகள் மாறக்கூடியவைகளாக உள்ளன. மாறக் கூடிய உணர்வுகளால் நாம் இரட்சிப்பின் உறுதியைப் பெறுவதில்லை. ‘நான் அருமையாக இருப்பதை உணர்கிறேன்” என்று நமது ஆத்துமா கூறவேண்டும் என் தேவன் எதிர்பார்பதில்லை. இயேசு கிறிஸ்துவிடத்திலும், அவருடைய வார்த்தையிடத்திலும், அந்த ஆத்துமா திருப்ப வேண்டுமென்று தேவன் எதிர்பார்க்கிறார். ஒருசமயம் மாட்டின் லூத்தரிடம், ‘உங்களுடைய பாவங்கள் மன்னிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளன என்று உணர்கிறீர்களா?” என்று ஒருவர் வினவினார். ‘நான் அவ்வாறு உணர்வதில்லை. ஆனால் தேவன் பரலோகில் இருப்பது எவ்வளவு உண்மையோ, அவ்வளவாக இரட்சிப்பின் உறுதியை உடையவனாக இருக்கிறேன். உணர்வுகள் வரும் உணர்வுகள் போகும். அவை ஏமாற்றக்கூடியவை. ஆனால் தேவனுடைய வார்த்தையே எனக்களிக்கப்பட்ட உறுதி மொழியாக இருக்கிறது. வேறெதுவும் விசுவாசிப்பதற்கு ஏற்றதல்ல” என அவர் விடை பகர்ந்தார். நீதிமானாக்கப்படுதல் என்னும் நிகழ்ச்சி மனிதனுடைய நரம்பு மண்டலத்தில் நடப்பதில்லை. அச்செயல் தேவனுடைய உள்ளத்தில்தான் நடைபெறுகிறது.” என்று உ.i. ஸ்கோபீல்டு இதைக் குறித்து விளக்கமளிக்கிறார். ‘நான் மனமகிழ்ச்சியோடு இருப்பதால் இரட்சிக்கப்பட்டிருக்கிறேன் என்று அறிவதில்லை. மாறாக, இரட்சிக்கப்பட்டிருப்பதால் களிகூருகிறவனாக இருக்கிறேன்.” என்று h.ய.அயன்சைடு கூறியுள்ளார். தான் இரட்சிக்கப்படிருந்ததை, எழுதப்பட்ட வசனங்கள் மூலமாகவே அவர் அறிந்திருந்தார்.
‘நாம் தேவனுடைய பிள்ளைகளாயிருக்கிறோம் என்று ஆவியானவர் தாமே நம்முடைய ஆவியுடனேகூட சாட்சி கொடுக்கிறார்.” என்று வாசிக்கும் போது, முக்கியமாக வேதத்தின் மூலமாகவே அவர் சாட்சியளிக்கிறார். என்பதை நாம் நினைவுகூர வேண்டும். (ரோமர் 8:16). ‘என்னிடத்தில் விசுவாசமாயிருப்பவனுக்கு நித்திய ஜீவன் உண்டு” என்று யோவான் 6:47ல் வாசிக்கிறோம். நம்முடைய நித்திய இரட்சிப்பிற்காக நாம் கிறிஸ்துவை விசுவாசிக்கிறோம் என்பதை அறிந்திருக்கிறோம். விண்ணுலகம் செல்வதற்கு அவர் ஒருவரே நமது நம்பிக்கையாக இருக்கிறார். நாம் தேவனுடைய பிள்ளைகளாயிருக்கிறோம் என்று இவ்வசனத்தின் மூலமாக தேவ ஆவியானவர் சான்றுபகர்கிறார்.
இந்த உறுதியைப் பெறுவதற்கு வேறுசில வழிமுறைகளும் உள்ளன என்பது உண்மையே. சகோதரர்களிடத்தில் அன்புகூருகிறதாலும், பாவத்தை வெறுக்கிறதாலும், நீதியைக் கடைப்பிடிக்கிறதாலும், தேவனுடைய வார்த்தையின்மீது விருப்பம் கொள்கிறதாலும், ஜெபம் செய்ய ஏவுதல் கொண்டிருக்கிறதாலும், நாம் இரட்சிக்கப்பட்டிருக்கிறோம் என்பதை அறிவோம். ஆனால் இப்பிரபஞ்சத்தில் முதன்மையானதும், அடிப்படையானதும், சார்ந்துகொள்ளக்கூடியதும்., உறுதிபடைத்ததும், தேவ வார்த்தையே ஆகும். ‘இயேசு கிறிஸ்துவின் குருதியே நம்மைப் பாதுகாக்கிறது. அவருடைய வார்த்தையே நமக்கு உறுதியளிக்கிறது” (ஜார்ஜ் கட்டிங்).

»Dies habe ich euch geschrieben, auf dass ihr wisset, dass ihr ewiges Leben habt, die ihr glaubet an den Namen des Sohnes Gottes.« 1. Johannes 5,13
Einige von uns werden Gott für diesen Vers ewig dankbar sein, weil er uns gelehrt hat, dass Heilsgewissheit zuerst und hauptsächlich durch das Wort Gottes und nicht durch unsere Gefühle kommt. Die Bibel wurde unter anderem deshalb geschrieben, damit diejenigen, die an den Namen des Sohnes Gottes glauben, wissen können, dass sie ewiges Leben haben.
Wir dürfen dankbar sein, dass Gewissheit nicht durch unsere Gefühle kommt, weil diese sich tagtäglich ändern. »Gott verlangt von der Seele nicht, dass sie sagt: ›Gott sei Dank fühle ich mich so wohl‹, sondern Er lenkt unseren Blick in eine andere Richtung, auf Jesus und Sein Wort.« Als jemand Martin Luther einmal fragte: »Fühlst du, dass deine Sünden vergeben sind?«, antwortete er: »Nein, aber ich bin dessen so sicher, wie es einen Gott im Himmel gibt. Denn Gefühle kommen und Gefühle gehen, und Gefühle sind trügerisch. Mein Unterpfand ist Gottes Wort, nichts
sonst ist’s wert zu glauben. « C.I. Scofield erinnert uns daran, dass »Rechtfertigung in den Gedanken Gottes stattfindet und nicht im Nervensystem des Gläubigen.« H.A.Ironside pflegte zu sagen: »Ich weiß nicht, dass ich errettet bin, weil ich mich glücklich fühle, aber ich fühle mich glücklich, weil ich weiß, dass ich errettet bin.« Und er wusste, dass er errettet war, durch das geschriebene Wort Gottes.
Wenn wir lesen, dass der Heilige Geist mit unserem Geist zeugt, dass wir Kinder Gottes sind (Römer 8,16), dann müssen wir bedenken, dass der Heilige Geist uns hauptsächlich durch die Schrift Zeugnis gibt. Wir lesen beispielsweise in Johannes 6,47: »Wer an mich glaubt, hat ewiges Leben.« Wir wissen, dass wir uns hinsichtlich unseres ewigen Heils Christus anvertraut haben; Er ist unsere einzige Hoffnung, in den Himmel zu kommen. Der Geist Gottes bezeugt uns deshalb durch diesen Vers, dass wir Kinder Gottes sind.
Natürlich gibt es auch andere Mittel zur Befestigung dieser Gewissheit. Wir wissen, dass wir gerettet sind, weil wir die Brüder lieben, weil wir die Sünde hassen und Gerechtigkeit üben, weil wir das Wort Gottes lieben und weil wir ein Verlangen zum Gebet haben. Aber das erste und grundlegende Mittel der Gewissheit ist die sicherste und zuverlässigste Sache im ganzen Universum: das Wort Gottes. George Cutting hat es in seiner bekannten Broschüre »Sicherheit, Gewissheit und Genuss der Errettung « so ausgedrückt: »Das Blut macht uns sicher; das Wort macht uns gewiss.«
