What Sanctifies Our Offerings?

And the priest shall put some of the blood upon the horns of the altar of sweet incense before the Lord. (Leviticus 4:7)

The altar of incense is the place where saints present their prayers and praises; and it is delightful to think of it as sprinkled with the blood of the great sacrifice. This it is which makes all our worship acceptable with Jehovah: He sees the blood of His own Son and therefore accepts our homage.

It is well for us to fix our eyes upon the blood of the one offering for sin. Sin mingles even with our holy things, and our best repentance, faith, prayer, and thanksgiving could not be received of God were it not for the merit of the atoning sacrifice. Many sneer at “the blood”; but to us it is the foundation of comfort and hope. That which is on the horns of the altar is meant to be prominently before our eyes when we draw near to God. The blood gives strength to prayer, and hence it is on the altar’s horns. It is “before the Lord,” and therefore it ought to be before us. It is on the altar before we bring the incense; it is there to sanctify our offerings and gifts.

Come, let us pray with confidence, since the Victim is offered, the merit has been pleaded, the blood is within the veil, and the prayers of believers must be sweet unto the Lord.

தம் பலிகளைப் பரிசுத்தப்படுத்துவது எது ?

பின்பு ஆசாரியன் அந்த இரத்தத்தில் கொஞ்சம் எடுத்து ஆசாரிப்புக் கூடாரத்திலே கர்த்தருடைய சந்நிதியில் இருக்கும் சுகந்த தூப பீடத்துக் கொம்புகளின் மேல்பூசி….. (லேவி.4:7).

பரிசுத்தவான்கள் தங்கள் விண்ணப்பங்களையும் ஸ்தோத்திரங்களையும் ஏறெடுக்கும் இடம் சுகந்த தூபபீடமாகும். அதன் மேல் சிறப்பான பலியின் இரத்தம் தெளிக்கப்பட்டிருக்கும் என்று நினைப்பது மனநிறைவு அளிக்கிறது. இது தான் நம் வழிபாட்டையெல்லாம்யேகோவாவின் முன் அங்கீகரிக்கப்படச் செய்கிறது. அவர் தம் சொந்தக் குமாரனின் இரத்தத்தைப் பார்த்து அதனால் நம் வணக்கத்தை ஏற்றுக் கொள்கிறார்.

பாவத்திற்காக ஏறெடுக்கப்பட்ட இரத்தமாகிய ஒரே பலியின் மேலேயே நம் கண்களைப் பதிய வைத்திருப்பது நமக்குநல்லது. பரிசுத்தமான செயல்களோடு கூட பாவம் கலந்து விடுகிறது. நம்மில் சிறப்பாகக் காணப்படும் மனந்திரும்புதல், நம்பிக்கை, வேண்டுதல், ஸ்தோத்திரம் முதலியவை ஒப்புரவாக்கும் பலியின் தகுதியினாலேயே கடவுளால் ஏற்றுக் கொள்ளப்படுகின்றன. பலர் அந்தப்பலியின் இரத்தத்தை ஏளனமாக இகழுகிறார்கள். ஆனால் நம் ஆறுதலுக்கும் நம்பிக்கைக்கும் அதுவே அஸ்திபாரம் ஆகும். பலிபீடத்தின் கொம்புகள் மேல் பூசப்பட்ட இரத்தம் நாம் கடவுளண்டை நெருங்கும் போது நம் கண்கள் முன் சிறப்புப் பெற்றதாகக் காணப்பட வேண்டும். இந்தஇரத்தம் வேண்டுதலை ஆற்றல் உள்ளதாக்குகிறது. ஆகையால்தான் அது பலிபீடத்தின் கொம்புகள் மேல் இருக்கிறது. அது கர்த்தருடைய சந்நிதியில் இருக்கிறது. அது நம் பலியையும் காணிக்கைகளையும் பரிசுத்தப்படுத்துகிறது.

பலியாகத் தம்மை அளிக்க முன் வந்தவர் தம்மை அளித்துவிட்டார். ஆகவே பலி செலுத்தப்பட்டு அதன் சிறப்பு ஏற்றுக் கொள்ளப்பட்டு விட்டது. இரத்தம் திரை மறைவில் இருக்கிறது. விசுவாசிகளின் வேண்டுதல்கள் கர்த்தருக்கு இனிமையானவையாய் இருக்கும்.

„Und der Priester soll desselben Bluts tun auf die Hörner des Rauchaltars vor dem Herrn.“ 3. Mose 4, 7.

Der Rauchaltar ist der Ort, wo die Heiligen ihre Gebete und ihr Lob darbringen; und es ist eine Freude, daran zu denken, dass er mit dem Blut des großen Opfers besprengt ist. Dies ist es, weshalb vor Jehovah all unsere Verehrung annehmbar ist: Er sieht das Blut seines eigenen Sohnes und nimmt darum unsere Huldigung an.

Es ist gut für uns, unsere Augen auf das Blut des einen Opfers für die Sünde zu heften. Die Sünde mischt sich sogar in unsere heiligen Dinge, und unsere beste Buße, unser Glaube, Gebet und Dank könnte nicht von Gott angenommen werden, wäre nicht das Verdienst des Versöhnungsopfers da. Viele höhnen „das Blut“; aber für uns ist es die Quelle des Trostes und der Hoffnung. Das, was auf den Hörnern des Altars ist, soll besonders deutlich vor unsren Augen sein, wenn wir uns Gott nahen. Das Blut gibt dem Gebet Kraft, und daher ist es auf den Hörnern des Altars. Es ist „vor dem Herrn“, und deshalb sollte es vor uns sein. Es ist auf dem Altar, ehe wir den Weihrauch bringen; es ist da, was unsre Gabe heiligt.

Kommt, lasst uns mit Zuversicht beten, da das Opfer dargebracht worden, das Verdienst geltend gemacht, das Blut innerhalb des Vorhangs ist, und die Gebete der Gläubigen ein süßer Geruch vor dem Herrn sein müssen.
