Commonest Things Blessed
Ye shall serve the Lord your God, and he shall bless thy bread, and thy water. (Exodus 23:25)
What a promise is this! To serve God is in itself a high delight. But what an added privilege to have the blessing of the Lord resting upon us in all things! Our commonest things become blessed when we ourselves are consecrated to the Lord. Our Lord Jesus took bread and blessed it; behold, we also eat of blessed bread. Jesus blessed water and made it wine: the water which we drink is far better to us than any of the wine with which men make merry; every drop has a benediction in it. The divine blessing is on the man of God in everything, and it shall abide with him at every time.
What if we have only bread and water! Yet it is blessed bread and water. Bread and water we shall have. That is implied, for it must be there for God to bless it. “Thy bread shall be given thee, and thy waters shall be sure.” With God at our table, we not only ask a blessing, but we have one. It is not only at the altar but at the table that He blesses us. He serves those well who serve Him well. This table blessing is not of debt but of grace. Indeed, there is a trebled grace; He grants us grace to serve Him, by His grace feeds us with bread, and then in His grace blesses it.

சாதாரணமானவை ஆசீர்வதிக்கப்படும்
உங்கள் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தரையே சேவிக்கக்கடவீர்கள். அவர் உன் அப்பத்தையும் உன் தண்ணீரையும் ஆசீர்வதிப்பார் (யாத்.23:25).
இது எவ்வளவு சிறந்த வாக்குறுதியாகும்!கடவுளைச் சேவிப்பதே மனமகிழ்ச்சியளிக்கும். அதோடு அவர் நம்மை ஆசீர்வதிப்பது எவ்வளவு மேன்மையாகும். நாம் ஆண்டவருக்கென்று தேர்ந்துவிடப்பட்டவர்களால் நம்மோடு தொடர்புள்ள சாதாரணமானவையெல்லாம் ஆசீர்வதிக்கப்படும். நம்முடைய ஆண்டவராகிய இயேசு அப்பத்தை எடுத்து, அதைஆசீர்வதித்தார். ஆசீர்வதிக்கப்பட்ட அப்பத்தில் நாமும் பங்குகொள்கிறோம். இயேசு தண்ணீரை ஆசீர்வதித்து அதைத் திராட்சரசமாக்கினார். மக்கள் குடித்து, மகிழ்ச்சியடையும் எந்தத் திராட்சரசத்தையும்விட நாம் குடிக்கும் தண்ணீர் எவ்வளவோ மேலானது. அதன் ஒவ்வொருதுளியிலும் ஒவ்வொரு வாழ்த்து இருக்கிறது. கடவுளின் மனிதனோடு எக்காலத்திலும் எல்லாவற்றிலும் கடவுளின் ஆசீர்வாதம் நிலைத்திருக்கிறது.
நம்மிடம் அப்பமும் தண்ணீரும் மட்டும் இருந்தால் என்ன? அவை ஆசீர்வதிக்கப்பட்ட அப்பமும் தண்ணீரும் ஆகும். நம்மிடம்எப்போதும் அப்பமும் தண்ணீரும் இருக்கும். இதன் உள் அர்த்தம் இதுதான். ஏனெனில் அவர் ஆசீர்வதிக்க அவை இருக்கவேண்டும். அவன் அப்பம் அவனுக்குக் கொடுக்கப்படும். அவன் தண்ணீர் அவனக்கு நிச்சயமாய்க் கிடைக்கும். சாப்பிடும்போது ஆண்டவர் நம்மோடு இருந்தால் நாம்சாப்பாட்டை ஆசீர்வதிக்க அவரைக் கேட்டுக்கொள்வது மட்டுமல்ல, சாப்பாடே அவர் ஆசீர்வாதமாக நமக்குக் கொடுத்தது ஆகும். ஆலயத்தில் மட்டுமல்ல, சாப்பாடு இடத்திலும் அவர் நம்மை ஆசீர்வதிக்கிறார். அவருக்கு நன்றாக ஊழியம் செய்பவர்களுக்குத் தேவையானவற்றை அவர்அளிக்கிறார். சாப்பாடு ஆசீர்வதிக்கப்படுவது கிருபையினாலேயே. கடனுக்காக அல்ல, மூன்று மடங்காக்கப்பட்ட கிருபை அருளுகிறார். அவர் கிருபையினால் நமக்கு உணவு அளிக்கிறார். அவர் கிருபையினால் அதை ஆசீர்வதிக்கிறார்.

„Dem Herrn, eurem Gott, sollt ihr dienen; so wird Er dein Brot und dein Wasser segnen.“ 2. Mose 23, 25.
Was für eine Verheißung ist dies! Gott zu dienen ist an sich eine hohe Wonne. Aber was für ein Vorrecht obendrein, dass der Segen Gottes in allen Dingen auf uns ruht! Unsere gewöhnlichsten Dinge werden gesegnet, wenn wir selber dem Herrn geweiht sind. Unser Herr Jesus nahm Brot und segnete es; siehe, wir essen auch von gesegnetem Brot. Jesus segnete Wasser und machte es zu Wein! Das Wasser, das wir trinken, ist für uns weit besser, als der Wein, womit die Menschen fröhlich gemacht werden; jeder Tropfen enthält eine Segnung. Der göttliche Segen ruht auf dem Manne Gottes in allem, und soll jederzeit bei ihm bleiben.
Was tut‘s, wenn wir nur Brot und Wasser haben! Es ist doch gesegnetes Brot und Wasser. Brot und Wasser sollen wir haben. Das liegt darin einbegriffen, denn es muss da sein, damit Gott es segne. „Sein Brot wird ihm gegeben, sein Wasser hat er gewiss.“ Mit Gott an unserem Tische bitten wir nicht nur um Segen, sondern wir haben ihn. Nicht nur am Altar, sondern auch am Tisch segnet Er uns. Er dient denen gut, die Ihm gut dienen. Dieser Tischsegen ist nicht aus Verdienst, sondern aus Gnaden. In der Tat, hier ist dreifache Gnade; Er gewährt uns Gnade, Ihm zu dienen, Er speiset uns durch seine Gnade mit Brot, und segnet es dann in seiner Gnade.
