Mercy to the Undeserving
He that trusteth in the Lord, mercy shall compass him about. (Psalm 32:10)
O fair reward of trust! My Lord, grant it me to the full! The truster above all men feels himself to be a sinner; and lo, mercy is prepared for him: he knows himself to have no deservings, but mercy comes in and keeps house for him on a liberal scale. O Lord, give me this mercy, even as I trust in Thee!
Observe, my soul, what a bodyguard thou hast! As a prince is compassed about with soldiery, so art thou compassed about with mercy. Before and behind, and on all sides, ride these mounted guards of grace. We dwell in the center of the system of mercy, for we dwell in Christ Jesus.
O my soul, what an atmosphere dost thou breathe! As the air surrounds thee, even so does the mercy of thy Lord. To the wicked there are many sorrows, but to thee there are so many mercies that thy sorrows are not worth mentioning. David says, “Be glad in the Lord, and rejoice, ye righteous; and shout for joy, all ye that are upright in heart.” In obedience to this precept my heart shall triumph in God, and I will tell out my gladness. As Thou hast compassed me with mercy, I will also compass Thine altars, O my God, with songs of thanksgiving!

தகுதியற்றவர்களுக்குக் காட்டப்படும் கிருபை
கர்த்தரை நம்பியிருக்கிறவர்களையே கிருபை சூழ்ந்து கொள்ளும் (சங்.32:10).
நம்பிக்கைக்கு எவ்வளவு சிறந்த பரிசு கிடைக்கும் என்று பாருங்கள். என் ஆண்டவர் எனக்கு அதை முழுவதுமாக அளிப்பாராக! நம்புகிறவன் எல்லாரையும் விடத் தான் பாவி என்று உணர்கிறான். ஆனால், இதோ, அவனைக் கிருபை சூழ்ந்து கொள்ளும். அவன் எதற்கும் தகுதியற்றவன் என்று உணர்கிறான். ஆனால் கிருபை அவனைச் சூழ்ந்து கொள்கிறது. ஆண்டவரே, நான் உம்மை நம்புகிறேன். எனக்கு இவ்விதமான கிருபையை அருளும்.
என்னுடைய ஆத்துமாவே, உனக்கு எவ்வளவு சிறந்த மெயக்காவலர் உண்டு என்பதைக் கவனித்துப்பார். ஓர் இளவரசனைப் போர் வீரர்கள் சூழ்ந்திருப்பதைப் போல கிருபை உன்னைசு; சூழ்ந்து கொள்ளும். கிருபையின் காவற்படையினர் முற்புறத்திலும் பிற்புறத்திலும் எல்லாப் பக்கங்களிலும் உன்னைச் சூழ்ந்திருப்பார்கள். நாம் கிறிஸ்து இயேசுவில் நிலைத்திருப்பதால் கிருபையினால் சூழப்பட்டிருக்கிறோம்.
என் ஆத்துமாவே நீ எப்படிப்பட்ட சூழ்நிலையில் இருக்கிறாய் என்பதை நினைத்துப் பார். காற்று மண்டலம் உன்னைச் சுற்றிலும் இருப்பது போல ஆண்டவரின் கிருபையும் உன்னைச் சூழ்ந்து இருக்கிறது. துன்மார்க்கனுக்கு அநேக வேதனைகளுண்டு. ஆனால் உனக்கு எத்தனையோ கிருபைகள் இருப்பதால் உன் வேதனைகள் குறிப்பிடத்தக்கவையல்ல. நீதிமான்களே, கர்த்தருக்குள் மகிழ்ந்து களிகூருங்கள் செம்மையான இருதயமுள்ளவர்களே, நீங்கள் எல்லாரும் ஆனந்த முழக்கமிடுங்கள் என்று கூறுகிறார். இதற்குக் கீழ்ப்படிந்து, நான் கர்த்தரில் களிகூருவேன். என் மகிழ்ச்சியை எல்லாருக்கும் வெளிப்படுத்துவேன். என் ஆண்டவரே, உம் கிருபை என்னைச் சூழ்ந்து கொண்டிருப்பது போல் நான் நன்றி கூறும் கீத சத்தங்களால் உம் சமூகத்தை நிரப்புவேன்.

„Wer auf den Herrn vertraut, den wird die Barmherzigkeit umfangen.“ Ps. 32, 10.
Oschöner Lohn des Vertrauens! Mein Herr, gewähre ihn mir völlig! Mehr als alle anderen Menschen fühlt der Vertrauende sich als einen Sünder; und siehe, die Barmherzigkeit ist für ihn bereitet: er weiß, dass er selbst kein Verdienst hat, aber die Barmherzigkeit kommt und hält Haus für ihn in freigebigster Weise. O Herr, gib mir diese Barmherzigkeit, so wie ich Dir vertraue!
Beachte, meine Seele, was für eine Leibwache du hast! Wie ein Fürst mit Soldaten umgeben ist, so bist du mit Barmherzigkeit umfangen. Vorn und hinten und an allen Seiten sind auf ihren Rossen diese Wachen der Gnade. Wir wohnen im Mittelpunkt eines Reiches der Barmherzigkeit, denn wir wohnen in Christo Jesu.
O, meine Seele, in welcher Atmosphäre atmest du! Wie die Luft dich umfängt, ebenso tut es die Barmherzigkeit deines Herrn. Für den Gottlosen ist viele Plage, aber für dich sind so viel Güter da, dass deine Plage nicht der Erwähnung wert ist. David spricht: „Freuet euch des Herrn, und seid fröhlich, ihr Gerechten, und rühmet alle, ihr Frommen.“ Im Gehorsam gegen diese Vorschrift soll mein Herz in Gott triumphieren, und ich will meine Freude verkünden. Wie Du mich mit Barmherzigkeit umgeben hast, will ich auch Deine Altäre, o mein Gott, mit Liedern des Dankes umgeben!
