“Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing…” (1 Tim. 2:15)
From some of the restrictions Paul places on woman’s ministry in the church, it might seem that she is reduced to a nonentity. For instance, she is not permitted to teach or to usurp authority over the man, but must be in silence (v. 12). Some might conclude that she is relegated to an inferior place in the Christian faith.
But verse 15 clears up any such misconception. “She shall be saved in childbearing…” Clearly this is not referring to the salvation of her soul, but rather to the salvation of her position in the church. To her is given the tremendously important privilege of raising sons and daughters for God.

It is doubtful that Susannah Wesley ever ministered from a pulpit, but her ministry in the home has had a worldwide outreach through two of her sons, John and Charles.
In our society it is fashionable for many women to desert the home in order to carve out more glamorous careers in the business or professional world. To them housework is drab and raising a family is a dispensable chore.
At a Christian women’s luncheon, the conversation had drifted to the subject of careers. Each one was rhapsodizing about her position and her salary. There is no question that there was a spirit of rivalry! Finally one turned to a housewife who had three stalwart sons and asked, “And what is your career, Charlotte?” Charlotte replied humbly, “I raise men for God.”
Pharaoh’s daughter said to the mother of Moses,” Take this child away, and nurse it for me, and I will give thee thy wages” (Ex. 2:9). Perhaps one of the greatest surprises at the Judgment Seat of Christ will be the high wages the Lord pays to those women who have devoted themselves to raising boys and girls for Him and for eternity.
Yes, “she shall be saved in childbearing…” Woman’s place in the church is not one of public ministry, but perhaps the ministry of godly childbearing is of far greater importance in the eyes of God.

பெண்களின் பொறுப்பு
சபையில் பெண்கள் ஆற்றும் ஊழியத்தில், சில கட்டுப்பாடுகளை பவுல் விதித்திருப்பது, அவர்களுக்கு எவ்வித முக்கியத்துவமும் இல்லையென்பது போன்ற எண்ணத்தை உண்டாக்குகிறது. எடுத்துக்காட்டாக, உபதேசம் பண்ணவும், ஆண்கள்மேல் அதிகாரஞ் செலுத்தவும் பெண் அனுமதிக்கப்படவில்லை. அவள் அமைதியாயிருக்கவேண்டும் (வச.12). இதைப் படிப்போர் கிறிஸ்தவ விசுவாசத்திலே பெண்கள் தாழ்வான இடத்திற்குத் தள்ளப்பட்டு விட்டனர் என்னும் முடிவுக்கு வந்துவிடலாம்.
அந்தத் தவறான எண்ணத்தை 15ஆவது வசனம் மாற்றுகிறது. …’பிள்ளைப்பேற்றினாலே இரட்சிக்கப்படுவாள்.” இங்கு சொல்லப்பட்டிருப்பது அவளுடைய ஆத்துமாவின் இரட்சிப்பைப் பற்றியதல்லவென்பது தெளிவாகும். இது அவள் சபையில் பெற்றிருக்கிற நிலையைக் குறித்த இரட்சிப்பேயாகும். தேவனுக்கென்று குமாரர்களையும் குமாரத்திகளையும் வளர்க்கவேண்டிய, மிகவும் சிறப்பு வாய்ந்த பொறுப்பு அவளுக்குக் கொடுக்கப்பட்டிருக்கிறது.
‘தொட்டிலை ஆட்டும் கையே, உலகத்தை ஆளக்கூடியதாயிருக்கிறது”. என்று வில்லியம் ரோஸ் வாலஸ் என்பார் கூறியுள்ளார். ஒவ்வொரு பெருந்தலைவருக்கும் பின்னனியில் ஒவ்வொரு சிறப்பு வாய்ந்த தாய் இருக்கிறாள்.
மேடையில் ஏறி எங்கும் ஊழியம் செய்யததாக சூசன்னா வெஸ்லியைக் குறித்து நாம் பார்க்கிறதில்லை. ஆயின் அந்தப் பெண்மணி வீட்டில் ஆற்றிய ஊழியம் உலகில் பல திக்குகளிலும் பலன் தந்தது. அன்னாரது இரண்டு குமாரர்களே ஜான்வெஸ்லி மற்றும் சார்லஸ் வெஸ்லி என்பவர்கள்.
நமது சமுதாயத்தில், வீட்டைப் புறக்கணித்துக் கவர்ச்சிமிக்க அலுவல்களில் பெண்கள் பணிபுவது நவநாகரிகமாத் தோன்றுகிறது. அவர்களுக்கு வீட்டு வேலை அற்பமாகவும், கீழ்த்தரமாகவும் தோன்றுகிறது.
கிறிஸ்தவப் பெண்கள் சிற்றுண்டி அருந்துவதற்கு ஒன்றுகூடிய நேரத்தில் அவர்களுடைய பேச்சு அலுவல் புரிவதைப் பற்றித் திரும்பியது. ஒவ்வொருவரும் தனது பதவியைக் குறித்தும், தான் பெறுகிற ஊதியத்தைக் குறித்தும் பேசினார்கள். அங்கு விரோதத்தின் ஆவி நிறைந்து காணப்பட்டது. அப்பொழுது தனது வீட்டைப் பராமரிக்கும் குடும்பத் தலைவியைப் பார்த்து, ‘நீ என்ன வேலை செய்கிறாய்” என்று ஒரு பெண் கேட்டாள். கர்த்தருக்கென்று உறுதியும் திறமும் படைத்த மூன்று ஆண்மக்களை வளர்த்த அப்பெண், ‘கர்த்தருக்கென்று மனிதர்களை வளர்க்கிறேன்” என்று விடைபகர்ந்தாள்.
மோசேயின் தாயைப் பார்த்து, நீ இந்தப் பிள்ளையை எடுத்துக்கொண்டு போய், அதை எனக்கு வளர்த்திடு, நான் உனக்குச் சம்பளம் கொடுக்கிறேன்” என்று பார்வோனின் மகள் கூறினாள் (யாத்.2:9). கர்த்தருக்காகவும் நித்தியத்திற்காவும் தங்களது குமாரர்களை வளர்ப்பதற்காகத் தங்களையே ஒப்புவித்த தாய்மார்கள் மிகவும் மேன்மையான ஊழியத்தைக் கர்த்தருடைய நியாயாசனத்திலிருந்து அடைவார்கள் என்பது நமக்கு ஒருவேளை பெரும் வியப்பைத்தரும்.
ஆம், ‘பிள்ளைப்பேற்றினாலே இரட்சிக்கப்படுவாள்” என்பது எத்தனை உண்மையாயிருக்கிறது. சபையில் வெளியரங்கமான ஊழியத்தைச் செய்யும்படி பெண்கள் அனுமதிக்கப்படவில்லை. ஆனால், தேவபக்தி நிறைந்த மக்களைப் பெற்று வளர்ப்பது தேவனுடைய பார்வையில் மகத்துவமானதாக இருக்கிறது.

»Sie wird gerettet werden in Kindesnöten …« 1. Timotheus 2,15
Aus einigen Einschränkungen, die Paulus dem Dienst der Frau in der Gemeinde auferlegt, könnte man schließen, dass sie dadurch zu einem Nichts reduziert wird. So ist es ihr beispielsweise nicht erlaubt, zu lehren oder über den Mann zu herrschen, sondern sie soll still sein (1. Timotheus 2,12). Daraus könnte man ableiten, dass sie im Christentum einen völlig bedeutungslosen
Platz einzunehmen hat.
Aber Vers 15 korrigiert jede solche verkehrte Auffassung. »Sie wird gerettet werden in Kindesnöten …« Dies bezieht sich natürlich nicht auf die Errettung ihrer Seele, sondern auf die Erhaltung ihrer Stellung in der Gemeinde. Ihr ist das überaus wichtige Vorrecht anvertraut, Söhne und Töchter für Gott großzuziehen.

Es ist zweifelhaft, ob Susannah Wesley je von einer Kanzel gepredigt hat, aber ihr Dienst zu Hause trug weltweite Frucht durch ihre beiden Söhne John und Charles.
In unserer Gesellschaft ist es Mode, dass viele Frauen ihren Haushalt verlassen, um Karrieren in der Geschäfts- oder akademischen Welt zu machen. Für sie ist Hausarbeit etwas Eintöniges und das Aufziehen von Kindern eine lästige und überflüssige Pflicht.
Bei einem Mittagessen christlicher Frauen hatte sich das Gesprächsthema Karriere und Beruf zugewandt. Jede sprach begeistert und manchmal auch ein wenig übertrieben über ihre Stellung und ihr Gehalt. Konkurrenzdenken machte sich deutlich bemerkbar. Schließlich wandte sich eine der Anwesenden einer Hausfrau zu, die drei kernige Söhne hatte: »Und was machst Du beruflich, Charlotte?« Charlotte antwortete bescheiden: »Ich erziehe Männer für Gott.«
Pharaos Tochter sagte zur Mutter Moses: »Nimm dieses Kind mit und säuge es mir, und ich werde dir deinen Lohn geben« (2. Mose 2,9). Vielleicht wird eine der größten Überraschungen vor dem Richterstuhl Christi die hohe Belohnung sein, die der Herr den Frauen gibt, die sich der Aufgabe gewidmet haben, Jungen und Mädchen für Ihn und für die Ewigkeit aufzuziehen.
Ja, »sie wird gerettet werden in Kindesnöten«. Die Stellung der Frau in der Gemeinde besteht nicht in öffentlichem Dienst, aber vielleicht ist der Dienst gottesfürchtiger Kindererziehung in den Augen Gottes von weit größerer Bedeutung.
