“…then shall I know even as also I am known.” (1 Cor. 13:12)
It is quite normal and understandable for us as Christians to wonder if we will know our loved ones in heaven. While there is no Scripture that deals specifically with the subject, there are several lines of reasoning that lead us to a positive conclusion.
First of all, the disciples recognized Jesus in His resurrected, glorified body. His physical appearance was unchanged. There was no mistaking that it was “this same Jesus.” This suggests that we too will have our own distinctive features in heaven, though in a glorified form. There is no suggestion that we will all look alike. When it says in 1 John 3:2 that we shall be like the Lord Jesus, it means morally like Him, i.e., forever free from sin and its consequences. But certainly we will not look like Him so as to be mistaken for Him. Never!
Second, there is no reason to believe that we will know less in heaven than we know down here. We recognize one another down here; why should it be thought strange that we should recognize each other up there? If we shall know then as we are now known, that should be decisive.
Paul expected to know the Thessalonians in heaven. He said that they would be his hope, joy and crown of rejoicing (1 Th. 2:19).
There are indications in the Bible that people have been given and will be given the ability to identify people they have never seen before. Peter, James and John recognized Moses and Elijah on the Mount of Transfiguration (Matt. 17:4).
The rich man in Hades recognized Abraham (Lu. 16:24). Jesus told the Jews that they would see Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and all the prophets in the Kingdom of God (Lu. 13:28). We are told to make friends through the wise stewardship of our money so that these friends will welcome us to the everlasting habitations (which assumes that they will recognize us as their benefactors) (Lu. 16:9).
But one word of caution should be added! While it seems clear that we will know our loved ones in heaven, we will not know them in the same relationships that existed on earth. For instance, the husband-wife relationship will no longer be in effect. That seems to be the clear meaning of the Savior’s words in Matthew 22:30, “…in the resurrection, they neither marry, nor are given in marriage.”

மறுமையில் விசுவாசிகள்
நமக்கு இன்பமானவர்கள், பிரியமானவர்களை விண்ணுலகில் கண்டு அறிந்துகொள்வோம் என்னும் உண்மை கிறிஸ்தவர்களாகிய நமக்கு வியத்தகு மகிழ்ச்சியை அளிக்கிறது. இப்பொருளைக் குறித்து நேரடியாகப் பேசும் வசனங்களை திருமறையில் நாம் காண்கிறதில்லை. இக்கூற்று உண்மையே என்று முடிவுசெய்வதற்கு வழிநடத்தும் பல வசனங்கள் திருமறையில் உள்ளன.
முதலாவதாக, மகிமை நிறைந்த சரீரத்துடன் உயிர்த்தெழுந்த இயேசு கிறிஸ்துவை அவரது சீடர்கள் கண்டவுடன் யார் என்று அறிந்துகொண்டனர். அவருடைய உடல்தோற்றம் மாறுபடவில்லை. ‘இந்த இயேசுவை” என்பதில் அவர்களுக்கு எவ்வித ஐயமுமில்லை. அதே விதமாக நாமும் மகிமையின் சரீரத்தைப் பெற்றிருந்தாலும், நமக்குரிய தனிப்பட்ட தோற்றத்தை விண்ணுலகிலும் பெற்றிருப்போம் என்றே இது காட்டுகிறது. நாம் யாவரும் ஒன்றுபோலக் காணப்படுவோம் என்ற கருத்தை நாம் திருமறையில் காண்கிறதில்லை. 1.யோவான்3:2 இல் கர்த்தராகிய இயேசு கிறிஸ்துவுக்கு ஒப்பாயிருப்போம் என்று சொல்லப்பட்டிருக்கிறது. நாம் ஒழுக்கத்தில் அவருக்கு ஒப்பாயிருப்போம் என்னும் பொருளையே இவ்வசனம் தருகிறது. அதாவது, என்றென்றைக்குமாக பாவத்திலிருந்தும் அதனுடைய விளைவுகளிலிருந்தும் விடுதலையைப் பெற்றிருப்போம். ஆனால் அவருடைய தோற்றத்தை நிச்சயமாக நாம் பெறப்போவதில்லை. நம்மைக் காண்பவர் இவர் கிறிஸ்துவோ என்று தவறாக நினைப்பதற்கு இடமிருக்காது!
இரண்டாவதாக, நாம் இங்கே அறிவதைக்காட்டிலும் விண்ணுலகில் அதிகமாக அறியக்கூடியவர்களாக இருப்போம். இப்புவியில் ஒருவரையொருவர் அடையாளம் கண்டுகொள்ளுகிறோம். விண்ணுலகில் ஒருவரையொருவர் அடையாளம் கண்டுணர்வதில் என்ன ஆச்சரியம் இருக்கமுடியும்? இங்கு இருப்பது போன்று அங்கும் தோற்றமளிப்போமாயின், அங்கு அடையாளம் காண்பது உறுதி. தெசலோனிக்கேயரை, பவுல் விண்ணுலகில் அடையாளம் காணப்போவதை எதிர்பார்த்தார். அவர்களே, பவுலுக்கு நம்பிக்கையும், சந்தோஷமும், மகிழ்ச்சியின் கிரீடமுமாயிருப்பார்கள் (1.தெச.2:19). இதுவரை காணாதவர்களையும் இங்கே அடையாளம் காணமுடியும் என்ற குறிப்புகளை வேதத்தில் காண்கிறோம். பேதுரு, யாக்கோபு, யோவான் ஆகியோர் மோசேயையும், எலியாவையும் மறுரூப மலையில் அடையாளம் கண்டனர் (மத்.17:4).
பாதாளத்தில் இருந்த செல்வந்தன் ஆபிரகாமை அடையாளம் கண்டு கொண்டான் (லூக்.16:24). தேவனுடைய அரசில் ஆபிரகாம்,ஈசாக், யாக்கோபு மற்றும் பிற தீர்க்கதரிசிகள் யாவரையும் யூதர்கள் காண்பார்கள் என்று இயேசு கிறிஸ்து கூறினார். (லூக்.13:28). விவேகமுள்ள உக்கிராணக்காரர்களாகத் திகழ்ந்து நம்முடைய செல்வத்தினால், நம்மை நித்தியத்திலே வரவேற்கும்படி நண்பர்களைச் சம்பாதிக்க வேண்டும் என்று நமக்கு அறிவுரை வழங்கப்பட்டிருக்கிறது. நாம் ஆற்றிய பணியினால் நன்மையைப் பெற்ற அவர்கள் நம்மை அடையாளம் காண்பார்கள் (லூக்.16:9).
என்றாலும் இங்கு எச்சரிப்பு ஒன்று கொடுக்கப்படவேண்டும். விண்ணுலகில் நமக்கு இன்பமானவர்களைக் கண்டுகொண்டாலும், இவ்வுலகில் நாம் கொண்டிருக்கும் உறவின் அடிப்;படையில் அவர்களை அறியமாட்டோம். எடுத்துக் காட்டாக, அங்கு கணவன் மனைவி என்னும் உறவில்லை. ‘உயிர்த்தெழுதலில் கொள்வனையும் கொடுப்பனையும் இல்லை” என்ற இயேசுகிறிஸ்துவின் சொற்கள் இதை வலியுறுத்துகின்றன.

Es ist ganz normal und verständlich, dass wir Christen uns fragen, ob wir unsere Lieben im Himmel wohl wiedererkennen werden. Während es keine Schriftstelle gibt, die sich mit diesem Thema besonders beschäftigt, gibt es doch verschiedene Hinweise, die uns zu einer positiven Schlussfolgerung in dieser Frage führen.
Zuerst einmal erkannten die Jünger den Herrn Jesus in Seinem verherrlichten Auferstehungsleib wieder. Seine physische Erscheinung war unverändert. Jeder Irrtum war ausgeschlossen, es war »Jesus selbst«. Das gibt uns die Garantie, dass auch wir im Himmel unsere eigenen persönlichen Züge tragen werden, wenn auch in verherrlichter Form. Es gibt keinen Hinweis darauf, dass wir alle gleich aussehen werden. Wenn wir in 1. Johannes 3,2 lesen, dass wir Ihm gleich sein werden, dann bedeutet das: Ihm gleich in moralischer Hinsicht, d.h. für immer frei von der Sünde und ihren Folgen. Aber bestimmt sind wir Ihm nicht äußerlich gleich in dem Sinn, dass wir mit Ihm verwechselt werden könnten. Niemals!
Zweitens gibt es keinen Grund zu glauben, dass wir im Himmel weniger wissen als hier auf der Erde. Wir erkennen einander hier unten; warum sollten wir es für seltsam halten, dass wir auch dort oben einander erkennen? Wenn wir dort »so erkennen werden, wie wir jetzt erkannt sind«, dann ist das ein eindeutiges Argument.
Paulus erwartete, die Thessalonicher im Himmel wiederzuerkennen. Er sagte, dass sie dann seine Hoffnung und Freude und Krone des Ruhmes sein würden (1. Thessalonicher 2,19).
Es gibt Hinweise in der Bibel, dass Menschen die Fähigkeit bekamen und bekommen werden, Personen zu erkennen, die sie nie zuvor gesehen hatten. Petrus, Jakobus und Johannes erkannten Mose und Elia auf dem Berg der Verklärung (Matthäus 17,4).
Der reiche Mann im Hades erkannte Abraham (Lukas 16,24). Jesus sagte den Juden, dass sie Abraham, Isaak und Jakob und alle Propheten im Reich Gottes sehen würden (Lukas 13,28).
Aber ein Wort der Warnung wollen wir dennoch hinzufügen! Während es deutlich scheint, dass wir unsere Lieben im Himmel wiedererkennen werden, werden wir sie nicht in den gleichen Beziehungen kennen wie hier auf der Erde. So gibt es zum Beispiel die Beziehung Ehemann – Ehefrau nicht mehr. Das geht deutlich aus den Worten des Herrn in Matthäus 22,30 hervor: »Denn in der Auferstehung heiraten sie nicht, noch werden sie verheiratet, sondern sie sind wie Engel Gottes im Himmel.«
