One a Majority!
One man of you shall chase a thousand: for the Lord your God, he it is that fighteth for you, as he hath promised you. (Joshua 23:10)
Why count heads? One man with God is a majority though there be a thousand on the other side. Sometimes our helpers may be too many for God to work with them, as was the case with Gideon, who could do nothing till he had increased his forces by thinning out their numbers. But the Lord’s hosts are never too few. When God would found a nation, He called Abram alone and blessed him. When He would vanquish proud Pharaoh, He used no armies, but only Moses and Aaron. The “one-man ministry,” as certain wise men call it, has been far more used of the Lord than trained bands with their officers. Did all the Israelites together slay so many as Samson alone? Saul and his hosts slew their thousands but David his ten thousands.
The Lord can give the enemy long odds and yet vanquish him. If we have faith, we have God with us, and what are multitudes of men? One shepherd’s dog can drive before him a flock of sheep. If the Lord sent thee, O my brother, His strength will accomplish His divine purpose. Wherefore, rely on the promise, and be very courageous.

ஒருவரே பெரும்பான்மையானவர்
உங்களில் ஒருவன் ஆயிரம் பேரைத் துரத்துவான். உங்கள் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் உங்களுக்குச் சொன்னபடி, அவர்தாமே உங்களுக்காக யுத்தம்பண்ணுகிறார் (யோசு.23:10).
மனிதரை ஏன் எண்ணுகிறீர்கள்? பகைவரின் பக்கம் ஆயிரம் பேர் இருந்து, கடவுளோடு ஒருவர் மட்டும் இருந்தாலும் கடவுள் பக்கம் இருப்பவர்களைப் பெரும்பான்மையினராகக் கருதலாம். கிதியோன் கண்டுபிடித்ததுபோல மனிதரில் நமக்கு உதவி செய்கிறவாகளைக் கடவுள் தேவைக்கு அதிகமானவர்களாகக் கருதலாம். தமக்கு உதவி செய்ய வந்தவர்கள் தொகையைக் குறைத்து, தம் ஆற்றலை அதிகப்படுத்துமுன் கிதியோன் ஒன்றும் செய்யமுடியாத நிலையில் இருந்தார். ஆனால் கடவுளின் சேனை ஒருபோதும் தேவைக்குக் குறைவானதாய் இருப்பதில்லை. கடவுள் ஓர் இனத்தை உருவாக்க நினைத்தபோது ஆபிரகாமை மட்டுமே அழைத்து, அவரை ஆசீர்வதித்தார். பெருமையுடன் இருந்த பார்வோனை வென்று அடக்குவதற்கு பெரிய படையைப் பயன்படுத்தவில்லை. மோசேயையும் ஆரோனையும் உபயோகித்தார். மெய்யறிவார்ந்தவர்கள் சிலர் இதை ஒருவரே செய்யும் ஊழியம் என்கிறார்கள். அதிகாரிகளுக்குக் கீழ் செயல்படும் பயிற்சி பெற்ற ஊழியக்காரரைவிட இப்படிப்பட்டவர்களையே ஆண்டவர் அதிகம் உபயோகித்திருக்கிறார். சிம்சோன் வெட்டி வீழ்த்தினவர்களைவிட அதிகமானவர்களை இஸ்ரவேலர் வெட்டி வீழ்த்தினார்களா? சவுலும் அவர் படை வீரரும் ஆயிரம்பேரைக் கொன்றார்கள். தாவீதோ பதினாயிரம் பேரைக் கொன்றார்.
கடவுள் எதிரிகளுக்குச் சாதக நிலை கொடுத்தாலும் அவர்களை அழித்துவிடலாம். நமக்கு நம்பிக்கை இருந்தால் கடவுள் நம் பக்கம் இருப்பார். பகைவர் பக்கம் ஏராளமான பேர் இருந்தாலும் நமக்கு என்ன? ஒரு மேய்ப்பனின் நாய் பெரிய ஆட்டு மந்தையேயே ஓட்டிச்செல்லக்கூடும்! என் சகோதரரே, ஆண்டவர் உம்மை அனுப்பினால் அவர் ஆற்றல் அவர் தெய்வீகக் குறிக்கோளை நிறைவேற்றி முடிக்கும். ஆகையால் இந்த வாக்குறுதியை நம்பி தைரியம் உள்ளவர்களாய் இருங்கள்.
24. Mai
„Euer einer wird tausend jagen; denn der Herr, euer Gott, streitet für euch, wie Er euch geredet hat.“ Jos. 23, 10.
Warum Köpfe zählen? E i n Mann mit Gott ist eine Majorität, ob auch tausend auf der anderen Seite sind. Zuweilen mögen unsrer Helfer zu viele sein, so dass Gott nicht mit ihnen wirken kann, wie es bei Gideon der Fall war, der nichts tun konnte, bis er seine Streitkräfte vermehrt hatte, indem er ihre Zahl verminderte. Aber der Heere des Herrn sind nie zu wenige. Als Gott ein Volk gründen wollte, rief Er Abram allein und segnete ihn. Als Er den stolzen Pharao besiegen wollte, gebrauchte Er keine Armeen, sondern nur Mose und Aaron. Das „Amt eines Mannes,“ wie gewisse weise Leute es nennen, ist von dem Herrn weit öfter gebraucht worden, als eingeübte Scharen mit ihren Offi zieren. Schlugen alle Israeliten zusammen so viele wie Simson allein? Saul und seine Heere schlugen
ihre Tausende, aber David seine Zehntausende.
Der Herr kann dem Feind große Überzahl geben und ihn dennoch überwinden. Wenn wir Glauben haben, so haben wir Gott mit uns, und was sind Menschenmengen? Eines Hirten Hund kann eine große Herde Schafe vor sich hertreiben. Wenn der Herr dich gesandt hat, o, mein Bruder, wird seine Kraft seinen göttlichen Ratschlag vollenden. Darum verlasse dich auf die Verheißung und sei sehr mutig.
