He Constantly Abides
For the Lord will not forsake his people for his great name’s sake; because it hath pleased the Lord to make you his people. (1 Samuel 12:22)
God’s choice of His people is the reason for His abiding by them and not forsaking them. He chose them for His love, and He loves them for His choice. His own good pleasure is the source of their election, and His election is the reason for the continuance of His pleasure in them. It would dishonor His great name for Him to forsake them, since it would either show that He made an error in His choice or that He was fickle in His love. God’s love has this glory, that it never changes, and this glory He will never tarnish.
By all the memories of the Lord’s former lovingkindnesses let us rest assured that He will not forsake us. He who has gone so far as to make us His people will not undo the creation of His grace. He has not wrought such wonders for us that He might leave us after all. His Son Jesus has died for us, and we may be sure that He has not died in vain. Can He forsake those for whom He shed His blood? Because He has hitherto taken pleasure in choosing and in saving us, it will be His pleasure still to bless us. Our Lord Jesus is no changeable lover. Having loved His own, He loves them to the end.

எப்போதும் கூடவே இருக்கிறார்
கர்த்தர் உங்களைத் தமக்கு ஜனமாக்கிக் கொள்ளப் பிரியமானபடியால், கர்த்தர் தம்முடைய மகத்துவமான நாமத்தினிமித்தம் தமது ஜனத்தைக் கைவிடமாட்டார் (1.சாமு.12:22).
கடவுள் மக்களைத் தம் ஜனமாக்கிக்கொண்டதே அவர்களோடு எப்போதும் இருப்பதற்காகத்தான். அவர்களைக் கைவிடுவதற்காகவல்ல, அவர் அன்புக்காக அவர்களைத் தெரிந்துகொண்டார். அவர்களைத்தெரிந்துகொண்டதினால், அவர்கள்மேல் அன்புகூருகிறார். அவர்களைத் தெரிந்துகொண்டது அவர் பிரியத்தினால். அவர்கள்மேல் நிலையான பிரியம்கொண்டிருப்பது அவர்களைத் தெரிந்துகொண்டதினால். அவர்களைக் கைவிடுவது அவர் மகிமையுள்ள நாமத்துக்கு அவமரியாதையாகும். ஏனென்றால் அதுஅவர் தவறாகத் தெரிந்துகொண்டார் என்றாவது, அவர் அன்பு மாறும் தன்மையுள்ளது என்றாவது நினைக்கத்தூண்டிவிடும். ஆண்டவரின் அன்பு மாறாத தன்மையுள்ளது என்னும் சிறப்பு வாய்ந்தது. இந்தச் சிறப்பு ஒருபோதும் குறைவுபட அவர் விடமாட்டார்.
கடந்த காலத்தில் ஆண்டவர்காட்டின அன்பையும் இரக்கங்களையும் நினைவுகூர்ந்து, அவர் நம்மைக் கைவிடமாட்டார் என்னும் திட்டமான நம்பிக்கை உள்ளவர்களாய் இருப்போமாக. நம்மை அவருடைய ஜனமாக்கினவர் அவர் கிருபையின் செயலை மாற்றிவிடமாட்டார். நம்மைக் கைவிட்டு விடுவதற்காக அவர் மகிமையானசெயல்களைச் செய்திருக்கமாட்டார். அவர் குமாரனாகிய இயேசு நமக்காக மரித்துள்ளார். அவர் வீணாக மரிக்கவில்லை என்று நாம் திட்டமாய் நம்பலாம். அவர் யாருக்காக தம் இரத்தத்தைச் சிந்தினாரோ அவர்களைக் கைவிட்டுவிடுவாரா? நம்மைத் தெரிந்துகொண்டு இரட்சித்ததில் அவர்மகிழ்ச்சி அடைந்ததினால் நம்மை ஆசீர்வதிப்பதிலும் அவர் மகிழ்ச்சி அடைவார். நம்முடைய ஆண்டவராகிய இயேசு மாறும் அன்பரல்ல. தமக்குச் சொந்தமானவர்களில் அன்புகூர்ந்ததினால் முடிவுபரியந்தம் அவர்களில் அன்புகூருகிறார்.

„Denn der Herr wird sein Volk nicht verlassen, um seines großen Namens willen; denn es hat dem Herrn gefallen, euch zu seinem Volk zu machen.“ 1. Sam. 12, 22.
Dass Gott sein Volk erwählt hat, ist der Grund, weshalb Er bei ihnen bleibt und sie nicht verlässt. Er wählte sie um seiner Liebe willen, und Er liebt sie um seiner Wahl willen. Sein eigenes Wohlgefallen ist die Quelle ihrer Erwählung, und seine Erwählung ist der Grund für die Fortdauer seines Wohlgefallens an ihnen. Es würde seinen großen Namen entehren, wenn Er sie verließe, da es zeigen würde, dass Er sich entweder in seiner Wahl geirrt habe oder dass Er wankelmütig in seiner Liebe sei. Die Liebe Gottes hat diesen Ruhm, dass sie sich niemals ändert, und diesen Ruhm wird Er niemals verdunkeln lassen.
Alle Erinnerungen an des Herrn frühere Güte und Freundlichkeit sollen uns dessen versichern, dass Er uns nicht verlassen will. Er, der so weit gegangen ist, dass Er uns zu seinem Volk gemacht hat, wird nicht die Schöpfung seiner Gnade vernichten. Er hat solche Wunder nicht für uns getan, um uns schließlich aufzugeben. Sein Sohn Jesus ist für uns gestorben, und wir können sicher sein, dass Er nicht vergeblich gestorben ist. Kann Er diejenigen verlassen, für die Er sein Blut vergosssen hat? Weil es bisher sein Wohlgefallen gewesen ist, uns zu erwählen und zu erretten, so wird es immer noch sein Wohlgefallen sein, uns zu segnen. Unser Herr Jesus ist kein veränderlicher Liebhaber. Wie Er die Seinen geliebt hat, so liebt Er sie bis ans Ende.
