Better Farther On

Though I have afflicted thee, I will afflict thee no more. (Nahum 1:12)

There is a limit to affliction. God sends it, and God removes it. Do you sigh and say, “When will the end be?” Remember that our griefs will surely and finally end when this poor earthly life is over, Let us quietly wait and patiently endure the will of the Lord till He cometh.

Meanwhile, our Father in heaven takes away the rod when His design in using it is fully served. When He has whipped away our folly, there will be no more strokes. Or, if the affliction is sent for testing us, that our graces may glorify God, it will end when the Lord has made us bear witness to His praise. We would not wish the affliction to depart till God has gotten out of us all the honor which we can possibly yield Him.

There may today be “a great calm.” Who knows how soon those raging billows will give place to a sea of glass, and the sea birds sit on the gentle waves? After long tribulation the Rail is hung up, and the wheat rests in the garner. We may, before many hours are past, be just as happy as now we are sorrowful. It is not hard for the Lord to turn night into day. He that sends the clouds can as easily clear the skies. Let us be of good cheer. It is better on before. Let us sing hallelujah by anticipation.

தொலைவில் நலம் உண்டு

உன்னை நான் சிறுமைப்படுத்தினேன். இனி உன்னைச் சிறுமைப்படுத்தாதிருப்பேன் (நாகூம் 1:12).

வேதனைக்கும் ஓர் எல்லை உண்டு. கடவுள் அதை அனுப்புகிறார். கடவுள் அதை நீக்குகிறார். நீங்கள் பெருமூச்சுடன் இது எப்போது முடியும்? என்று ஏங்குகிறீர்களா? இந்த உலக வாழ்க்கை முடிவடையும்போது நம் துயரங்களும் நிச்சயமாகவும் இறுதியாகவும் முடிவடையும். நம் ஆண்டவர் வரும்வரை அமைதியாகக் காத்திருந்து, நம் ஆண்டவரின் சித்தத்தைப் பொறுமையுடன் தாங்கிக் கொள்வோமாக.

நம் பரமபிதா அவர் திட்டப்படி பிரம்பை உபயோகித்தபின் அதை அகற்றிவிடுகிறார். நம் மடமை அடித்து விரட்டப்பட்டபின் நாம் அடிபடவேண்டியதில்லை. நம் நற்பண்புகள் கடவுளை மகிமைப்படுத்த வேண்டும் என்பதற்காக அல்லது நம்மைச் சோதிப்பதற்காக நமக்கு அந்த வேதனை கொடுக்கப்பட்டிருக்குமேயானால் ஆண்டவரின் புகழ்ச்சிக்கு நாம் சாட்சியாயிருந்தபின் அது நீங்கிவிடும். நாம் அவருக்கு அளிக்கவேண்டிய புகழ்ச்சியையெல்லாம் அளிக்கும்வரை அந்த வேதனை நம்மைவிட்டு நீங்குவதை நாம் விரும்பமாட்டோம்.

இன்று ஆழ்ந்த அமைதி இருக்கலாம். ஆனால் எவ்வளவு சீக்கிரம் கொந்தளிப்பு தொடங்கும் என்று யாரும் அறியோம். கோதுமை நீண்ட காலமாகக் கொடுந்துன்பம் அனுபவித்தபின் சூடடிக்கும் கோல் அதன் இடத்தில் மாட்டப்படுகிறது. கோதுமையோ களஞ்சியத்தில் சேர்க்கப்படுகிறது. இப்போது நாம் துக்கப்பட்டுக்கொண்டிருந்தால் சில மணி நேரத்துக்குள் மகிழ்ச்சி அடையலாம். இரவைப் பகலாக்குவது ஆண்டவருக்கு கடினமல்ல. இருண்ட மேகத்தை அனுப்புபவர் வெகு சீக்கிரத்தில் அதை அகற்றிவிடலாம். ஆகையால் நாம் மகிழ்ந்து ஆர்ப்பரிப்போமாக! நல்ல காலத்தை எதிர்பார்த்து நாம் அல்லேலூயா பாடுவோமாக!

„Ich habe dich betrübt, aber ich will dich nicht mehr betrüben.“ Nah. 1, 12.

Es gibt eine Grenze für die Trübsal. Gott sendet sie, und Gott nimmt sie hinweg. Seufzt ihr und fragt: „Wann wird das Ende sein?“ Denkt daran, dass unsere Leiden sicher und auf immer enden werden, wenn dieses arme, irdische Leben vorüber ist. Lasst uns ruhig harren und geduldig den Willen des Herrn ertragen, bis Er kommt.

Mittlerweile nimmt unser Vater im Himmel die Rute hinweg, wenn seine Absicht beim Gebrauch derselben völlig erreicht ist. Wenn Er unsere Torheit hinweggepeitscht hat, gibt es keine Schläge mehr. Oder wenn die Trübsal gesandt ist, uns zu prüfen, damit unsere Gnadengaben Gott verherrlichen, so wird sie enden, wenn der Herr uns zu seinem Preise ein Zeugnis hat ablegen lassen. Wir möchten nicht wünschen, dass die Trübsal aufhöre, bis Gott alle Ehre durch uns erhalten hat, die für uns möglich wäre, Ihm zu bringen.

Es mag heute eine „ganz große Ruhe“ kommen. Wer weiß, wie bald jene tobenden Wogen Platz machen einem Meer, fl ach wie eine Glasscheibe, und die Seevögel auf den sanften Wellen sitzen werden? Nach langer Drangsal wird der Dreschfl egel weggehängt und der Weizen ruht in der Kornkammer. Wir mögen, ehe viele Stunden vergehen, ebenso glücklich sein, wie wir jetzt traurig sind. Es ist nicht schwer für den Herrn, Nacht in Tag zu verwandeln. Er, der die Wolken sendet, kann ebenso leicht den Himmel aufklären. Lasst uns guten Mutes sein. Vor uns liegt etwas Besseres. Lasst uns im voraus Halleluja singen.
