Solace, Security, Satisfaction
Although my house be not so with God; yet he hath made with me an everlasting covenant, ordered in all things, and sure: for this is all my salvation, and all my desire, although he make it not to grow. (2 Samuel 23:5)
This is not so much one promise as an aggregate of promises—a box of pearls. the covenant is the ark which contains all things.
These are the last words of David, but they may be mine today. Here is a sigh: things are not with me and mine as I could wish; there are trials, cares, and sins. These make the pillow hard.
Here is a solace—”He hath made with me an everlasting covenant.” Jehovah has pledged Himself to me, and sealed the compact with the blood of Jesus. I am bound to my God and my God to me.
This brings into prominence a security, since this covenant is everlasting, well ordered, and sure. There is nothing to fear from the lapse of time, the failure of some forgotten point, or the natural uncertainty of things. The covenant is a rocky foundation to build on for life or for death.
David feels satisfaction: he wants no more for salvation or delectation. He is delivered, and he is delighted. The covenant is all a man can desire.
O my soul, turn thou this day to thy Lord Jesus, whom the great Lord has given to be a covenant to the people. Take Him to be thine all in all.

ஆறுதல், அபாயமின்மை, திருப்தி
என்னுடைய வீடு தேவனிடத்தில் இப்படியிராதோ? சகலமும் திட்டம் பண்ணப்பட்டிருக்கிற நிச்சயமான நித்திய உடன்படிக்கையை என்னுடன் அவர் செய்திருக்கிறார். ஆதலால்என்னுடைய எல்லா இரட்சிப்பும் எல்லா வாஞ்சையும் வளர்ந்தோங்கச் செய்யாரோ? (2.சாமு.23:5).
இது சரியானபடி ஒரு வாக்குறுதியல்ல. பல வாக்குறுதிகளின் தொகுப்பு ஆகும். முத்துக்கள் நிறைந்த ஒருபெட்டியைப் போன்றது. உடன்படிக்கையே எல்லாம் நிறைந்த பெட்டியாகும்.
இவை தாவீது இறுதியாகக் கூறின சொற்களாகும். இன்று இவை என்னுடைய வார்த்தைகளும் ஆகலாம். சந்தர்ப்பம் பெருமூச்சு விடக்கூடியதாய் இருக்கின்றது. எனக்கும் என்னைச்சேர்ந்தவர்களுக்கும் நான் விரும்பும்சூழ்நிலை இல்லை. சோதனைகள், கவலைகள், பாவங்கள் இருக்கின்றன. இவை தலையணையைக் கடினமாக்குகின்றன.
இதோ, ஆறுதலும் இருக்கிறது. நித்திய உடன்படிக்கையை என்னுடன் அவர் செய்திருக்கிறார். யேகோவா என்னுடன் வாக்குறுதியால் இணைந்து, இயேசுவின்இரத்தத்தால் முத்திரை இட்டுள்ளார். நான் என் தேவனுக்குக் கட்டுப்பட்டுள்ளேன். என் தேவன் எனக்குக் கட்டுப்பட்டுள்ளார்.
இது அபாயமின்மையையும் தெளிவாக்குகிறது. ஏனெனில் உடன்படிக்கை நித்தியமானதும், ஒழுங்கானதும், நிச்சயமானதும் ஆகும். நாங்கள் கடந்துபோவதைக் குறித்தாவது, ஏதாவது மறைக்கப்பட்டு விட்டதே என்றாவது, இயற்கையாக எல்லாம் நிலையற்றவை என்றாவது பயப்படவேண்டியதில்லை. உடன்படிக்கையானது வாழ்வுக்கும் மரணத்துக்கும் பாறை போன்ற அஸ்திபாரமாகும்.
தாவீது திருப்தி உள்ளவராயும் இருக்கிறார்.இரட்சிப்புக்காவது, மகிழ்ச்சிக்காவது வேறு எதுவும் தேவையென்று அவர் விரும்பவில்லை. அவர் விடுவிக்கப்பட்டுவிட்டார். அதைக்குறித்து மகிழ்ச்சி உள்ளவராய் இருக்கிறார். ஒரு மனிதன் விரும்பக் கூடியது எல்லாம் உடன்படிக்கையே ஆகம்.
என் ஆன்மாவே எல்லாமக்களுக்கும் உடன்படிக்கையாகத் தேவன் அருளியுள்ள உன் ஆண்டவர் இயேசுவை நோக்கிப்பார். அவரையே எல்லாவற்றுக்கும் எல்லாமாக ஏற்றுக்கொள்!

„Obgleich mein Haus nicht so mit Gott ist, doch hat Er mit mir einen ewigen Bund gemacht, der sicher und wohl geordnet ist: denn dies ist all mein Heil und all mein Verlangen, obgleich Er nichts wachsen lässt.“ 2. Sam. 23, 5.
Dies ist nicht so sehr eine Verheißung, als eine Menge von Verheißungen D- eine Schachtel voller Perlen. Der Bund ist die Arche, welche alle diese Dinge enthält.
Diese hier sind die letzten Worte Davids, aber sie mögen heute die meinigen sein. Hier ist ein S e u f z e r . Es ist nicht mit mir und meinem Hause so, wie ich es wünschen könnte; es sind Leiden, Sorgen und Sünden da. Diese machen das Kopfkissen hart.
Hier ist ein Tr o s t : – „Er hat mit mir einen ewigen Bund gemacht.“ Jehovah hat sich mir verbürgt und den Vertrag mit Jesu Blut versiegelt. Ich bin an meinen Gott gebunden und mein Gott an mich.
Hier tritt vor allem eine Sicherheit hervor, da dieser Bund ewig, wohlgeordnet und sicher ist. Der Verlauf der Zeit, das Fehlen irgendeines vergessenen Punktes oder die natürliche Ungewissheit der Dinge ist hierbei nicht zu fürchten. Der Bund ist eine Felsengrundlage, worauf man für Leben und für Tod bauen kann.
David fühlt B e f r i e d i g u n g : er braucht nichts mehr zu seinem Heil oder zu seiner Freude. Er ist erlöst und er ist froh. Der Bund ist alles, was ein Mensch wünschen kann.
O meine Seele, wende dich heute zu deinem Herrn Jesu, den der große Herr „zum Bund unter das Volk gegeben hat“. Nimm Ihn, dass Er dein alles in allem sei.
